Events - Music & Sports

Music
During the summer of 2007, I had the privilege of photographing the numerous bands that performed at the Thursday Nights Downtown program in Union, New Jersey.  The weekly event included live musical performances as well as art exhibits, featured merchants, and raffles.  The program is designed to attract people to shop and dine in Union, while listening to great music and looking at fine art.  Check out the images from these exciting events.

Sports
For the past few years, I have been photographing my son's soccer and track teams.  The response has been terrific, so I am pleased to announce that in the near future I will begin photographing sporting events in northern and central New Jersey.  I will take action photos of the participants and post them to a secured gallery on this website, where they can be viewed and purchased.  If you are interested in booking such an event, please contact me for more information.

Creative

The galleries below contain photos on a few diverse topics.  The first one, Still Lifes, contains images of everyday objects.  Some were photographed close-up or from unusual angles, so it might be difficult to tell what they are.  If you can't figure out what something is, please email me and I'll see if I can remember.

The Digital Art gallery has images that began as photos, but have been modified using varioius techniques.  Some resemble the original subject, but others have been changed into more abstract compositions.

Three other galleries, Ice, Foiled, and Oil and Water, illustrate what happens when photographers get bored.  These creative excursions caused my wife to question my sanity.  I can't blame her, since it probably looked strange to witness this bizarre behavior.

Ice involved hot water, open flames, and food coloring in addition to the primary ingredient.  I lit the subjects using various methods, and used different background colors to reflect onto the ice.  I melted the ice a little at a time using the flame and hot water.  There are still a few chunks of ice in our freezer, so I may shoot more of these some day soon.

Foiled
started out with a single large sheet of aluminum foil that I crumpled and smoothed to create varying textures.  I also molded the foil around other objects to enhance the texture, added lighting and colored reflections, and also digitally manipulated some of the photos.

Oil and Water
took place at our kitchen table and involved a small white bowl containing oil, water, and food coloring.  As I added the food coloring, I mixed it around and snapped away.

Unlike most of the other photos on the website, I didn't have a real clear idea what these images would look like.  They simply evolved and I documented their evolution.  I hope you find them interesting.
